We make it into the city! Everyone is excited, inspite of all that has happened so far! I was excited too! I love visiting the big city!
We find little Kristin at Penn Station, it's like 7:00PM, and everyone scatters. Scott and Josh try to find the partment to see what they can find out and I head out to Times Square with Abby, Rach, Amanda and Hannah. We are dinner at Bon au Pain and milled around Times for a while.
Times Square is over-load to me. Its fun to see, but I can't handle all the lights and busyness of it. It is probably my least favorite part of NYC.
We got Starbucks (of course) and decided to go to the Apple store, up by Central Park West. However, by the time we emerged from the subway, Scott was calling to tell us to meet him at Penn Station ASAP!
He and Josh found out that the apartment thing was a scam and we had no where to stay! AHHH! We had 16 college students in New York City and no where to sleep! Talk about panic!!!
We got to Penn Station and we had to rush to the train to all make it in time.
So, its about midnight and back to Rutherford to the cars we go. I had called 411 to try to find hotels that had vacancies, and had not had any luck. Aaron was looking up places on his iPhone and Garmon GPS, and Scott had Heather back in Birmingham looking and calling from there.
We drive all over that area of New Jeresy to about 4 places, and finally at about 2AM check into a hotel in Secaucus. Garmon, who I figued out how to speak in a British accent, was a big help! Garmon kept my car entertained, and since it was the middle of the night, that was really funny at the time.
Back to the hotel: Rachel went in and very pitifully explained our situation and the girl at the desk let us have 2 king rooms for all of us. We all piled in and crashed!
Side note: there was a thunderstorm that came thru in the middle of the night and apparently produced a tornado in Brooklyn! We brought the southern weather with us!
At about 3:30 AM Scott booked an apartment thru Woogo (where we stayed last year), so I think we all slept a little better knowing we had somehwere to stay the rest of the trip!
