The Grand Canyon

Grand Canyon Travel Blog | Travelogue | Travel Journal

The Grand Canyon National Park is one of the National Parks that is most frequently visited with around 5 million visitors each year. The impressive and unique landscape is kind of stunning at first, then it is just breathtaking. Always a good place to come back to and be remembered how small humans are compared to nature.

The Thunderbird lodge on the south rim (and it is really directly on the rim - only a couple of feet away) are all equipped with electricity and A/C. This might sound ridiculous, but some lodges in other parks do not offer the full service. In addition, the rooms in this lodge were clean, the bathrooms refurbished, and TV available. Although we only stayed for two nights, it was a blessing to fall down on the bed in the evening after taking a shower and having spent all day in the sun walking on the rim. There are a number of restaurants around the lodge, a souvenir shop, and - of course - a great view on the Canyon.
