Touchdown in Tokyo

Well after a very very very long day of traveling we finally managed to land in Tokyo. Our flight out of Vancouver was delayed by about 30 minutes, but in the end it was alright brecause it cut our layover in LA down a little bit. We flew on Singapore Airlines to Tokyo from LA and it was quite the experience. Since it was such a long flight (11.5 hrs) there was 2 meals which were actually pretty good. The most time wasting thing on the flight was the tv & movies on demand which made things go by so much quicker (I watched the movies Next with Nicholas Cage and the Perfect Stranger with Halle Berry and Bruce Willis). However, the saving grace was that Jen and I were able to split 3 seats on the flight, which meant we could spread out and take somewhat more comfortable naps.
After landing in Tokyo we activated our rail passes and set out for Asakusa (a district in Tokyo) where our hostel was. The rail system over here is phenominal not only because of the size and lengths of all the tracks, but because of the traffic that uses them on a day to day basis. Anyways, we get off the train were we need to, but don´t have a clue where we´re going from here, so we start asking some KFC attendants and streetworkers, but in the end it was the suprisingly friendly police that set us in the right direction. So after about 30mins of searching, we found the hostel... although we wish we hadn´t. It was pretty much a run down building and the room with only a bunk bed and busted a/c was smaller than a typical bathroom back home. So that made things quite uncomfortable, but we made it through the night. Right now it´s 5¨45 in the morning and we´re headed to get some grub then head off to Takayama for a day and night. Hope everything´s well at home everybody!
