Hotter N Hell 100, 2007
August 25, 2007
I rode 50 miles again this year in the Hotter N Hell 100. This year the start was cordinated to better accomodate the riders in different distances. After the start cannon was fired everyone was past the starting line in about 20 mins, an improvement from last year when it took almost an hour. Every year Sheppard AFB allows those biking in the 25 mile, 50 mile, and 100 k to come onto the base and ride through. This year Sheppard is building a new housing area that caused the route to be changed, they had a rest stop at the Pitsenbarger gym with TONS of military displays about Air Force heritage. Working on the base everyday you get kind of used to all the military planes and displayes but the way they had all the displays during the ride actually impressed alot of us military folks stationed here. Down the one main road there were actually Airmen lined up cheering on the riders as they zoomed past and onto the finish line. This year Sheppard was truly a highlight of the ride.
