Rural Venezuela is really another place. The inspiration for Conan Doyle's "The Lost World", the highest waterfall in the world, and bat-eating centipedes are all there!

Slight issues in Caracas

An interesting day. A battered up old van picked me up on time - at 5 am! The road was even bumpier than before due to the storms and the smell of fuel in the cab made me nauseous, which is never a good start to travel. I got to the airport at 0630, so there was plenty of time. Unfortunately it then transpired that my flight had been cancelled! Fortunately I was given a ticket for tomorrow on the next flight.

Looking around the airport, having coffee and cakes, I passed the time until the afternoon, then got a taxi to take me to a hotel for the night. Being short on Venezuelan currency, and a bit dubious about the area, I spent most of the afternoon watching TV to try and brush up on my Spanish! At least my taxi for the morning was easy to sort out.
