The outer gate to the temple grounds.

A healthy 3 hours of sleep.  Living at high altitude is great, because when I come back down to sea level I can drink like a champ and skip sleep and there is little to no consequence.  After getting up and cleansing myself, Matt and I headed up to Nara to see whatever we could see.  We met up with Matt's friend and fellow JET Jared, and spent some time walking around the town, taking care of errands and other boring shit.  The park which contains all the temples and historical buildings is smack in the middle of the urbanity.  It is strange to see deer running around in the city, but I guess the local residents there are used to their presence, so they know to drive carefully around the park and not turn the free roaming cute, peace loving messengers of the gods into a bloody fucking mess.  I didn't get to see a whole hell of a lot because by the time we rolled up on the park it was getting dark, but I did take a few shitty pictures and plan out what I will do when I come back in a few days.  There looks like some great stuff to see here, plus they have a vending machine that spits out great tasting vanilla mochi for a 120 yen.  Good times!
