Dobry den from Praha!!
Don't have much time and we're using the hotel's business center instead of paying many euros to use the net in our room (like we did in Paris and London), so this will be short and sweet--like Beth.
Yesterday (24 August) was a travel day. For some reason, I assumed traveling to Praha would take only a couple of hours, maybe a half day at most. But our trip started at 7:15am in Paris, took us to Copenhagen (what a wad of flavor~Robert Earl Keen), and finally to Praha arriving at aroudn 3:30. We Czech'd into our hotel, freshened up, and headed to Old Town. We strolled around the square admiring the beautiul buildings. We had dinner at a tourist trap on the square but it was great. The pivo was SO GOOD! I had pig knee and Beth had goulash (sp?). We then walked over to the Estates Theater and saw Mozart's opera Don Giovani. It was fantastic!! More on this later, but the theatre itself is just absolutely beautiful. The production and performances were outstanding. Truly an amazing experience--to see the opera in the very building in which the opera was premiered. We then walked around the square some more and did some window shopping.
We're off now to the castle, then the Charles Bridge, and back to Old Town for more sightseeing and shopping.
Beth made the comment last night that Praha is her favorite city of the trip. It's very hard to disagree.
