travelled up to kuala lumpur by V.I.P bus (just cos i could) when we arrived we didnt have a clue where we were going. just directed to the nearest monorail station. we spent about an hour walking around in the heat sweating buckets trying to find our hotel. everybody we asked kept pointing us in the wrong direction which was quite frustrating. we ended up getting bumped by a taxi driver who took us about 50 yards for 10 ringit! once we had dumped our bags we headed out to the city centre for dinner and some nice australian guys bought us wine. so cheap night all round!
next day we got up early to go and meet jamie and steven who had just come from borneo. we booked ourselves into their hostel, the red dragon, in chinatown. which is basic but just what you need if your on a budget. explored chinatown for most of the afternoon and went out at night to zouk nightclub which was a bit mental. heres a tip, if you want to buy drink in malaysia dont buy cheap stuff! i got a half bottle for the equivalent of £1. i didnt sleep all night cos i was rolling around in pain!!!
on the 16th we got up at the crack of dawn to get the train up to ipoh where we caught the bus to the cameron highlands. took us most of the day so i was glad when we arrived. we stayed at a place called daniels lodge. the place was really basic but the banter was awsome. at night everyone goes to the jungle bar where they have a huge bonfire out the back. we spent the night drinking beer and chatting to everyone! soo cool!
