Emma is a sexy flighty architect. Lucy is a hilarious eccentric linguist. They are going to Thailand! And Cambodia. And Vietnam!

Home (sort of)

So now, we're back in Bangkok. We spent most of yesterday afternoon in MBK shopping centre, stocking up on things we couldn't find in Cambodia but which we deemed necessary for life (nail varnish, exfoliating gloves). After the insanity of Cambodia, Thailand is like coming home. We're experts. Seeing all the fresh-faced sweaty westerners parading around in skimpy outfits on their second and third days in the country makes me feel a little superior.

In between shopping and scoffing down the food we'd been craving in Cambodia (Starbucks, cake, biscuits) we booked the sleeper train to Chaing Mai. Tonight we go to sleep in Bangkok, and wake up seven hundred kilometres north. We're going to work our way south, and eventually spend a few well-deserved days on the beach.

I miss Cambodia. We haven't seen much of Thailand, but after the hospitality of the Khmers, the constant attempts by almost everyone in Bangkok to scam you is very wearing. I'm sure everything will be different outside this capital that we've been to twice, but not really seen at all.
