Smooth riding into Ping'an

Today I was fortunate to leave the unpaved road behind shortly out of Sanjiang and rejoined my old friend, Mr. Paved road. With an even surface under my tires, I made excellent progress during the day. I aimed for the town of Longsheng, about 60-70 km from Sanjiang, but I arrived there very early and decided to push forward some more. About 20 km outside of Longsheng I took a sideroad into a valley and biked ten more kilometres into the Longji terraced fields, a pretty famous destination in these parts. To finish the day, I climbed a steep 6 km switchback road to the town of Ping'an, perched atop the hillside and surrounded by beautiful terraces.
I had come about 100 km today, but I still had enough energy to hike up the steps to the village after storing my bike in a store down below. I stored my bags at a guesthouse and climbed up some more steps to the viewpoint above the village. I made it there just before dark and was rewarded with a nice view of Ping'an and the "Moon accompanied by seven stars" terrace (everything has to have a colourful name in China) before sunset. Unfortunately, I didn't have time to explore any more before the sun set. (there are other scenic terraces around the village, one called "Two dragons fighting over treasure").
