After coffee, laundry, a movie about the National Park, and lunch- all at the visitor's center, we headed toward Vik, a small town on the southern coast where we walked the black sand beach. The drive there was thru magnificent scenery!

Vik had an Ice Wear factory - unfortunately dear Ned may need to work extra to pay for our finds there, :-) but it is fabulous gear for adventure travel!

Skogafoss waterfall is fabulous both from the bottom and from a staircase above!

We had really wanted to go to the natural hot pool at Landmannalauger, but all roads surrounding it are still closed for snow (there's an online Iceland road map)

But we found an abandoned Hot Springs 5 km west of Skogafoss that required a 15 minute hike along a rocky riverbed. Lots of fun meeting new friends there and we have just returned to the campground at the waterfall for the night. Just two nights left - we love Iceland!
