A WOW Airlines email arrived in my inbox showing $99 flights to Iceland.  "Can't be," I think to myself.  Well, it was true, the scarce dates worked out with our summer plans, and next thing I knew, I'd booked a (Baltimore) BWI-KEF (Iceland) flight!  Then I found a $169 KEF-BOS (Boston) flight back, booked a couple $100 rt tickets on Delta ATL-BWI and BOS-ATL and Lia and I are going to Iceland in June!

Bought some travel guides, internet research flurry. I've learned a few things:

Cheap Jeeps has great prices on 5-10 year old rental cars and they have SUV's with camper conversions

But GuidetoIceland.com has the best prices.  We're probably going to rent a tiny SUV with a rooftop tent!  There is a discount through them for http://www.northernlightscarrental.com/ I believe we can get an F-road allowed, rooftop tent on an Suzuki Jemny for 10 days for about $800 US.

Rekjavik has a city-owned campground http://www.reykjavikcampsite.is/about/, and a hostel beside it (the city owns 3 hostels:   (Reykjavik City HostelReykjavik Downtown Hostel and Reykjavik Loft Hostel).  Next door is a hot springs swimming pool, they offer tours:  http://www.reykjavikcampsite.is/tours-and-transportation-2/ and there's camping rental gear at Iceland Camping Equipment: https://www.iceland-camping-equipment.com Bus Passports are available at the campground to take you around the ring road, if you don't want to drive.

Here's a great cell phone SIM card article:  http://toomanyadapters.com/buying-sim-card-using-phone-iceland/
