The town of Røros is one of the oldest towns of wooden buildings in Europe, and also one of the few mining towns in the world that has been found worthy of a place on UNESCO’s World Heritage List. The town centre boasts a rare collection of large and well-preserved wooden buildings, made all the more real and authentic by the fact that the people of today live and work in them.

Friday evening, Idrettsparken Hotel

Idrettsparken Hotel

Eva  started this gattherings last year in her and Einars home at Stjørdal.   And last year all of us were able to meet.  We had a really nice evening, so we decided to meet once a year.

Arriving Røros and Idrettparken Hotell we had the bad news,  three of us had to stay at home because of illness.  As we are a small family we were redused by one third this weekend.  But them of us who had arrived Røros in good healt was determined to make the best out of the weekend.  After setteling in in our rooms and apartment we had a long evening with nice gettogether, seafood and white wine.

Last year we had our reunion at Stjørdal and some of us had not meet since.  We had to fill in the gap since last year, what was new since last meeting.  And as usual when you are in good company the time runs away into the small hours.   And fortunately for us we had two days to come.

Doktortjønna park and the Femundsmarka visitors`centre are very close to Røros, and are areals you should visit if you are traveling with children.
Nature trail, fishing, canoes, boats, farm animals, playing area, and hill climbing. You can see the farm animals really close up.
In Stenhuset by Doktortjønna there is an exhibition on the Femundsmarka National Park, a library, cafe ans shop, as well as meeting and function rooms.
In Stenhuset they also arrange concerts. You can have a nice meal and perhaps enjoy their dancing nights.
Nice, isn`t he?

We wanted a place to stay during our visit at Røros that was not to expensive and that allowed us to make our breakfast. One of us had lived at Idrettparken Hotel earlier and recomended that we should stay there. We booked an apartment and three double rooms. The apartment was very good with 2 bedrooms and a large living room with a dining table for 12 persons. The kitchen was very well equiped with all utenciles we needed. The apartment was a perfect place for our gathering.
Idrettparken Hotel is in the heart of Røros, peaceful, plesant and with a family friendly atmosphere only 300 metres from the main street.
