Back to Bangkok to Meet Friends

After about two weeks on the island, we were enjoying three- and four-swim days without concern of burning. But by then it was time to head back to Bangkok. Dave had friends due to arrive from Australia and Greece; I, from Michigan. We rode an overnight bus from Surit Thani back to Bangkok. The seats were more comfortable than the train's, but the air conditioner called for use of heavy blankets which were provided.
By mid-morning, we were drying our laundry on the roof of our hotel. On the bustling T-intersection below, Dave spotted Jim and Horace in a daring scramble crossing the hectic street, and signaled them with brilliant flashes from a small mirror.
It was great to see Jim again; two years since the ski jumping tournament at Suicide Hill in upper Michigan. He arrived from Australia with another friend, Horace. Both of them already sported deep mid-summer tans; the seasons being reversed in the Southern Hemisphere. We all got reacquainted partying late along Pat Png Road.
Gail arrived from Greece. She was a Canadian who Dave had befriended on one of his Top Deck America tours two years earlier. She was on her way to Vancouver after traveling in Turkey and eastern Europe.
