My legs are severly aching, i am drenched to the bone, i have lost at least 2ltrs of sweat even though it is now raining and SHOCK HORROR i went to a mueseum today and not only one but many!!! I will remeber this day not for the outstanding art, or historic and huge mayan head carvings, or seeing corey fall over in the rain or actually seeing a Panada Bear for the first time in captivity but will remeber it purely for the distance travelled by foot!!!
Awaking in time for breakfast which has been a very rare occurence over our past couple of months in Sth America it was a pleasent surprise to see all the boys full of life and energy and even Corey bordering on eagerness to tackle the day a head which involved becoming a real tourist and going to mueseums, art galleries basically stuf that Duggers has been wanting to do for the last 5 months but we have constantly talked him out of it.
Now for small fee like $AUS2.50 you can walk around this rather large gallery for as long as you want and it is filled with some really cool art paintings, murules, carvings, statues and outdoor sculptures! But a major reason i avoid galleries is that there always seems to be massive amounts of art that you go ¨are you f%&king serious my dog could do that, where a guy has so clevely put three black dots on a blank white canvas and titled it ABSTRACT INTEGRITY!!¨, with a price tag in the thousands! Now I dont know if it is because im frustrated that i didnt try to tap into the world of ABSTRACT ART and make my fortune or that im just jealous that my artistic skills are still so bad that i would get abstract wrong on canvas, maybe a bit of both! All in all the Modern Art Gallery gets my thumbs up got a few cheap laughs (duggo walked into a glass door and nearly through it) and behind the gallery is a massive market thriving with food, driks and cheap objects some our feet lead us in that direction!
Being in an arty mood and wearingg my arty hat decided to get a cartoonist to draw a picture of Corey and I which turned out hilarious (it is in the post Mrs B, straight to the pool room and i hope it gets framed!), we munched of a few mexican style icecreams, Duggo bought GAY pink wristbands and we ate some cheap traditional tacos, burritos with plenty of chilli (and hence the sweats began)! Now while we where eating in this massive outdoor street market type place we noticed that all the major attractions were relatively closeby including the Zoo, our next stop! Now the cool thing about the the Mexico City Zoo is one it is free, two they have a massive array of animals including the Kangaroo (skippy skippy skippy the bush kangaroo.
Now i totally recommend you visit this place but do it in the morning and maybe spend the majority of your day there as it is so freakin BIG with so MUCH to see that walking over 15kms before getting there really isnt cool! The cost was $AUS4.50 but on most Sundays they have free days, you can get a guide that will show you, intepret, take photos whatever your heart desires for about $AUS15.00 for 3 hours. We decided against the guide and just cruise around ourselves and many of the displays, paintings, artefacts, carvings, sculptures have english translations! It is really quite fascinating and some of the stuff they have acquired is just purely amazing! By far my favourite part of the mueseum was the old skool rock carvings of massive heads, people, animals, sun dials from different mayan tribes and the history on the past trading in Mexico between these different ancient tribes was also very interesting! Again Duggers was frothing at the mouth, walking around half the time with a massive erection while corey just trudged around with sore feet complaining of hunger pains! I withstood past my limits but by the end had succumb to corey´s whinging phobia much to duggers dismay, and when we finally completed the circuit (in 3 hours, which is a short time by many other peoples standards) the heavens opened and i thought we my have to borrow the mueseums model of Noah´s Ark to get home!!
After waiting 15mins we realised this shower storm was setting in so we braced the monstrous water droplets and began our journey home, within minutes in was like i had just been for a swim in the ocean and it took ages for us to get a taxi as many said we were to wet to travel, but once again the green and white VMB beetle pulled through! We got dropped off nearish to our hostel as corey wanted food and it took literally 30 seconds before he was on his arse cursing his flip flops and the rain for making him fall over, it was hilarious! And his troubles only got worst because after food we discovery another art exhibition and Dougo got all excited again (tell tale signs is his shorts start to prop up around the groin region and he starts making these deep animal like murmurs, haha!!) and yes we walked around it for another hour much to corey´s dis-satisfaction but the paintings were some of the best id seen in a walk a thon thus far!
Now out of the rain i find myself back in the hostel, feet aching, the barmen is giving out free tequilla and some american and british lads have just challengned us to a 2ltr Corona drink off, not to mention that some danish girls have taken under their liberty to dread my hair as my two single but well groomed dreads are looking too lonely in their opinion! So this shaping up to be one hell of a night, mexican style!! Oh yeah, i was so inspired by all the awesome Moes i saw today walking around I have adopted the dirty Sanchez myself, Adios amigoes hasta luego!!!!
