The Long Day

The Trip began very early. Caught the early bus at 5 from the end of the road as picked people up, and then began the long journey down to Budapest from Krynica Zdroj. The journey took us through beautiful mountainous scenery of Slovakia and passing through the town of Kosice and across the whole while the tour guide explained about the local history and scenery as we passed through countryside and then across the Hungarian border. Eventually we arrived in Budapest at about 11, where we got our guide for the city called, Francis (anglisised I can't remember what it was in Hungarian). He spoke excellent Polish and English and provided to show us around Heroes square and the Surrounding park.
A quick trip down the road to the Hungarian Parliament, where we got off to take snaps. Like proper tourists! 3rd Largest in the World and fairly big it was. Straight after this we went on to St Stephen's Basilica, which was fantastic, just have a look at the photos. After this a quick shopping trip followed with a spot of lunch in the Great Market Hall, a large indoor market. Lots of souvenir shops and things at outrageously expensive prices. Phew didn't have to stay there for long! Popped back on the bus and a few more spots like the University of Budapest then up to the citadel for some more snaps of the view from above (see photos). Then another short pop down into the old town, to Trinity Place and some more panoramic views of Budapest. Finally fighting through the traffic down into Margret Island, the island park in the middle of the Danube and a little tram/car ride around the park, before the heavens opened on us.
Finally back on to the bus back to Krynica at Midnight, phew what a long day!
I'ld love to come back and have a better look round especially in some of the museums and lesser known sites.
