May 10 - After spending some time in and around Edmonton, AB. We went to the Alberta Museum which was interesting . The Government House was also onthe grounds. It was orginally the home of the governor, but later was rented to commercial operations. Then in the 70's it was returned to the government to use for meetings and to entertain dignitarys, Such as the Queen on her vistit to Alberta.
We went to the Leduc #1 oil well. This was the first large strike of oil in Alberta. It has some very interesting displays. The weather was nasty so we did not really go around to much.
We traveled 370 miles today to Dawson Creek. This is mile "0" of the Alaska Hwy. Since there was a time change now it is light until about 11pm.
We had very nice weather today, but they say rain in the next few days, and possibly snow. I sure hope it does not snow.
Over the next 4 days we will travel up the Alcan Hwy until we get to Palmer, AK which is about 30 miles north of Anchorage. From there we will be going to Sewart for a few days and then to Homer. Then on up to Denali Park to start our workamp job.
More to come at our next stop with wifi.
