Klaksvík - the second largest town of the Faroe Islands!

Klaksvík

Klaksvík:

Klaksvík is the second largest town of the Faroe Islands. The town is located on Borðoy, which is one of the northernmost islands (in Faroese: Norðoyar).

Klaksvik is located between two inlets lying back to back. It has an important harbour with fishing industry and a modern fishing fleet. Originally, four farms were located where Klaksvik is now. In time, they grew into four villages that finally merged to form the town of Klaksvík. What triggered the development of the town was the establishment of a centralized store for all the northern islands on the location.

The Norðoyatunnilin, a submarine tunnel to Leirvík was opened in April 2006, so now it's very easy to come to Klaksvík ;)))

Summar Festivalurin:

Each year (in August) a family festival called Summar Festivalurin is in Klaksvík. It's a good festival. Peoples like Scorpions, Brian McFadden, Brian Rice, Johnny Deluxe, Ana Johnson, Amy Diamond etc. has played there.

This year festival was the best Summer Festival I've been on. I had so much fun with my friends. Scorpions had a great concert! The weather was so bad the last day, that they had to cancel  the festival .. :(( It was sad .. But I think everybody had fun the other days :)) I hope so.

And I hope the weather will get better next year! heehe :p
