"The Shoes on the Danube Bank" honours Jews killed in Budapest during WW II. They were ordered to take off their shoes, and shot at the edge so their bodies were carried away by the water. This art represents their shoes left behind on the bank.

I have this running joke amongst my friends that Peru and Czech Republic ruined it for me. Till then, I was the dutiful Western European-phile that wouldn't do more than a fancy bike trip across France or castle spotting and museum crawling in the UK. And then, came my visits to the aforementioned countries that opened up a whole new part of the world I'd so far heard of, and lived vicariously through others' blogs, but never attempted to make a go of if on my own.

Alas, he we are! ;) When chalking down my "travel plan" for 2015, in addition to the erstwhile UK and France, I wanted some Eastern Europe as well, and Hungary emerged as the winner. The other two areas I selected, and that I've already blogged about were Wales and biking in Alsace

To be completely honest, I chose Budapest (Hungary) over Austria because S couldn't make it on this trip, and she was very keen on visiting Austria, so we thought we'd save for that later when we can travel together. And interestingly enough, when researching Budapest, I found a lot of parallels with Prague (the colourful city centre, the buildings ,the Palace atop a hill, etc.) but with enough to keep it fairly different and interesting as well. So it was decided - HUNGARY, HERE I COME!

This won't be an epic long blog - that said, I've attached eight of what I consider as my "Kodak moments" on this trip as teasers.

I am sure S is going to love Austria, I love it a lot as well and although I had very bad weather in Budapest, looking at your kodak moments which are actually amazing pictures, makes me wanna jump into a plane and go back! :)
