For those of you not personal friends of Noel & Melissa, you would not be aware that Melissa is a keen cook and is developing a cookbook collection to rival the Australian National Library (much to Noel's ever increasing concern)! Hence, a visit to London would not be complete without going out to the famous (in the cooking world) Petersham Nurseries, where the head chef is Skye Gyngell, and Australian who has become very well known in the UK and in Australia. After having a quick wander through the shop and the actual plant nursery, we had a coffee and cake in the cafe before buying a copy of Skye's new book, featuring many of the recipes she uses in the restaurant. It was Melissa's brilliant fortune that Skye was cooking today, and very kindly signed and personalised Melissa's copy of the book and was then gracious enough to have a brief chat about what she's doing and planning for the coming year (including a visit to Daylesford, very close to where we live). This was Melissa's "pop star" moment and she was most excited for the rest of the day (most people get revved by movie stars or musicians, Melissa loves chefs!).
Sorry about that little outpouring, but the day really was the highlight of Melissa's trip!!!
