Brighton - England
July 30, 2007
Brighton began as a saxon village when it was conquered by the saxons in the 5th century AD. One of them was called Beorthelm and he owned a farm called Beorthelm's tun, which, in time grew into the town of Brighton.
Brighton, in my eyes, is one of the best English seaside resort. I love the 18th century narrow lanes (Just called The Lanes) crammed with Antiques, jewelrs, Designer clothes and hat shops. Everytime time I'm down there I always come back with some little gem - Fanstatic. Across the main Road they are the North Lanes, This side is more vibrant and has a laid-back bohemian charm and over 300 unique, individual and quirky shop.
If your going for a week or longer I suggest hiring a flat or house, check out bestofbrighton.co.uk. or another good site is citypad.com most flats can sleep up to 6 and cost on average is about £700 for a weeks stay, I recomend booking at least 8 -9 months in advace as near the summer its virturly impossible to book any unless you want to spend a fortune.
