Süleymaniye Mh. is a quarter in Istanbul,  named after the famous mosque and social complex. It was constructed by the architect Mimar Sinan on the order of Suleiman the Magnificent. The mosque is in the center of the complex, constructed on a high hill facing Bosphorus and the Golden Horn.

The social complex includes the mosque, medical school, madrasas, Qur'an recitation school,  elementary school, hammam, public soup kitchen, asylum, bazaar, tombs of Sultan Suleiman the Magnificent and his wife Hurrem Sultan. The complex was completed in a very short time, which was a great succes at that time.

The mosque is illuminated by 138 windows and has an acoustics quality and ventilation system that is clearly the work of an architectural genius.  All the domes were built as double domes. The floor of the mosque has holes made of bricks to reflect sound. The inscriptions on the walls were written by a renowned calligrapher  Ahmet Karahisari and his student Hasan Celebi. Two of the mosques four minarets are on the two corners of the inner courtyard with  two balconies each and the other two on the corners of the rear facade have three balconies each.
