Chapter 3: Cuba

Okay... after almost 3 years without travel, doing a "real work" job making pretty decent cash as (at different times) a manager, executive producer and creative director with Canadian broadcasters, and after hanging out with poets, artists, actors and musicians and flirting with and otherwise indulging my exhibitionist instincts with numerous gigs featuring my own performance art... the feet were bound to get itchy again. Time for a change. Time for something new...

It started innocuously enough, with a more typical "beach vacation" stay, booked into one of Cuba's Varadero beach resorts... but that was all it took. :-)

(in progress... think: rickety 1950s Soviet 8 seater planes... to come)

there are great places in old Havana. Some more expensive and better kept, others great budget stops, and some are like apartments for longer stays. the resorts are a cheap way to go and Varadero is near to Havana and has an airport to take you over to Trinidad as well as all the public transport buses to other places on the island. I did the resort because of the package with my flight and the inclusive meal plan, but I didn't spend much time there :-)
