We train today to Ljubljana, Slovenia where we pick up a car and drive to Bled, Slovenia.  Apparently in this area of Europe, they RELALY don't let you pick up a car in one area and drop in another because the fees for doing so are upwards of $280! - hence, the reason for getting a different/new car in Slovenia than the one we had in Croatia.  ;)  What a pain...

Well, picking up our car wasn`t a problem and on we drove to Bled.  The next day, we drove Vsrič Pass, which is the highest mountain pass in Slovenia and comprises of 50 hairpin turns (Bill had fun pretending to be Ralph Schumacher).  Although the pass was beautiful, I think we would both agree that the neatest thing of the day was getting back to Bled.

We were all the way on the other side of the mountains and could either drive back, or load a car onto a train and be trained most of the way back.  When I first read that in our guidebook, I honestly thought I had read it wrong....but no, we literally drove our car onto a train and were transported to Lake Bohine - while we were sitting in our car!!!!  Yes, we road through tunnels, through countryside, waved at village kids - ALL while sitting in our car on a train.  It was crazy.  We took videos with our camera to document the occasion.  :)  Way cool, and something I`d definitely recommend.

The next day we drove around the Karst area of Slovenia and visited Prejama Castle, Škocjan Caves, and the Lipica Stud Farm (horses, not hot guys, lol).  The Castle was built into a cave, very unique.  The Caves were ENORMOUS, I can`t recall exactly how tall the tallest cavern was but I believe Bill said we could fit 3 of our home`s lots into the height of the cavern - so I do know it was big.  The Horse Farm has 400 acres and 370 horses!

All in all, we have really enjoyed Slovenia.  It reminds us very much of Austria (without the huge amounts of tourists), which we both loved when we were there a few years ago.

Came through here a just a few days after you guys were here. Got to see and experience a lot, but this just reiterates how much I missed as well.
