volcano day
Early morning around 5 am i picked up Tayler at his hotel in Zona 10 Guatemala city, Exactly Xamanec student inn, (i have a review about it), and we headed to Antigua guatemala, where we were gonna get our tour to the pacaya Volcano early that morning, we stopped by a gas station to get on food for the road and drinks.
When we got to Antigua, went to a hotel in near central park, that way we were going to take our bus to the volcano, started talking to some locals sitting outside the hotel, they were also going to pacaya, so that was what we needed, get ourselves inside the bus, and go on our not planned adventure, everything worked out perfect, we went to pacaya, it was my first experience in an active volcano, wasnt very hard for us to hike it, talking with Tayler and meeting some new Friends from Israerl at the bus, made it a great traveling trip.
:D
antigua
hello, u guys, i want to start my story by sharing with you, how i meet Taylor. we started sharing messages over travbuddy, fortunatelly he was coming to my country, and i was gonna have the chance to meet him here, we agreed, we were going to share at least a cup of coffee, the day we meet, but that, "cup of coffee" become into what i can say 3 good traveling days thru some places in guatemala.
I pick him up, in hes hostel, a very nice one, and i always drive pass it in zona 10, didnt even know it was there. i got there, knocked on the bell, he came out, we shake hands, said hello, we got into my car, and off we were off to antigua,..it was like if i knew him for ever, like he was my friend since school, no worries about, is this good, am i with a good person, he didnt doubt on trusting me, and me on trusting him.
i drove thru guatemala city takin the main road to antigua, and we were talking on all the way there, knowing each other, catchin up on things, i was driving talking to him, he was talking back, and i was also thinking, "man this is great, i feel comfortable, its ok, first time i meet someone from the internet, and was totally a friendship thing" and it felt good.when we got to antigua, i remember a place, ive been before for breakfast with my family, and taylor if ur reading this, "man im sorry i made u walk alot, to find the place", and we didnt got there, (that was worst part), hehe, i totally forgot were it was, we ended up in a well knowed restaurant, "la fonda de la calle real" were ex-president bill clinton had lunch, and silvester stallone had dinner, among others,.
the place is cool, and its the kinda place u wanna take someone like a family member, or in this case a good friend.after sharing that cup of coffee, and yeah a good breakfast, we also shared a tamal (typical dish from guatemala),oh yeah and i forgot a good and nutricious fruit mix juice, we went to la merced convent, some of our pictures are taken there, very cool and spiritual place, we walked, talked, and share diferent stories. We also went to San Jacinto convent near La Recoleccion church, that was more like a park, we walked around different parts of the convent, between what appears to be rooms that had no ceiling, since they were knocked down by an earthquake in 1773, it was kinda cool, to be in that full of history place. We headed back to my car, and we past some typical stores, commercial area, and lots of typical places in antigua.
On our way there, reaching almost central park, we read in some point, tours to the volcano. there is were we got the idea of going the next day to the pacaya volcano, but we were not sure about it at that point, so we made no reservation.
Driving back to guatemala city, we kinda think, "yeah what the hell, lets get up early, go back to antigua the next day", we had to be there 10 minutes before 6 am in the morning, and so we did, i went to pick him up, at 5:15 (yah, i was late 15 minutes), hehe, "sorry again taylor", but theres low traffic at that time, so we got just in time for the tour, (of course we had to make a tecnical stop on a gas station, to buy some food, for the way) and there is were our volcano experience started the second day, which it turn out to be a very good hiking experience (view my travel review attached to this blog).
