Puebla, México - View of Trans-Mexican volcanic belt
The Gods must´ve been angry today because Puebla was hit by a heavy hail storm, and we witnessed it all!! Apparently it´s "hurricane season" at the moment, but the strange thing is that during the day the sun is shining and the weather couldn´t be better, but then as soon as 4 or 5 pm comes around, there comes the rain! As if it was programmed!!
Well, Puebla´s situated about 40km east of the infamous Popocatépetl and IztaccÃhuatl Volcanoes (be sure to find out about the legend!), offers a great view of La Malinche, which is north of the city, and near Pico de Orizaba which is to the east. From here you can get a great view of the trans-mexican volcanic belt. Again another beautiful town in México, a must-see, for sure. I was amazed at how developed it was. A bit puzzling because I knew I was in Mexico, but it almost felt like being back home in the States, with all the malls and restaurants! Everywhere we looked, was a Sam's club, or Chilis-type restaurant! Some of you would feel right at home here!
At the same time, it looked very european . . . reminded me a lot of Portugal, with its ceramic façades and all. Very stunning!! Loved this colorful colonial town, and for sure I enjoyed the visit to the fort where the Mexicans defeated the French in the Battle of 5 de mayo!! Boo hoo!! I don't think Arnaud enjoyed it too much!! jeje!!! ¡Viva México!
