New Plymouth, New Zealand - Mount Taranaki, aka Mount Egmont

Another adventure as we set out for New Plymouth, the last of the places to be visited during our trip in NZ!!

It started off with a ride with this easy-going fella and which shortly turned into this smoking party, starring the Driver, Arnaud, and 3 other guys who'd also gotten picked up along the way.  Yeah, what fun!  Being in a car full of stoned idiots!  A bit of sarcasism is slipping out, sorry, but some folks just get so silly after smoking this stuff!

Anyway, luckily we got to the end of our ride safely, and were back in another vehicle shortly after that!!  Now, I'm not sure if it was a good thing or a bad one, because for some reason Arnaud was freaking out right from the start of the drive.  Apparently, the young female driver, had just gotten her learner's permit, and according to Mr.

New Plymouth, New Zealand - View of the ocean from Tina's home . . . Wow!!
Bossis, was driving like a bat out of hell!!  I gotta give it to him though, she was burning rubber every single time she took her foot off the clutch.  An inexperienced driver, or a paranoid high boyfriend??  Hmm? I think it was a little bit of both!!

What to do now?!!  The thing was that she was gonna be going all the way to New Plymouth, and so, we were pretty much set as far as getting to our scheduled destination, as planned.  Still, we decided to play it safe and get off in Wanganui instead, since we had a sure place to stay at for the evening.

Crazy story, actually.  When we were going down to Wellington, one of the gentlemen who picked us up along the way, an Austrian fellow, guaranteed us a place to stay at if we just so happened to pass on by the town of Wanganui.

New Plymouth, New Zealand - More amazing views from Tina's
And so, we decided to take him up on his offer and spend the night there and then continue onward the following day.

It's all very weird, really.  I questionned Arnaud's paranoia the day before, but then I asked myself the very next day, "was he right?"  It's funny, and actually a bit scary, how well he gets a feel of things, at times!  Anyway, getting to my point . . . After a couple of rides, getting us closer to our destination, we had the pleasure of being picked up by yet another terrific individual.  Things DO happen for a reason!!!

This time, we had the honor of meeting, Tina, an American (of Mexican decent), who's been living in New Zealand for over 20 years!!  I could just go on and on at how wonderfully she treated us, but I don't want to make you envious of our great encounters!!  Haha! :)  All jokes aside, though, we have to say a HUGE thank you, once again, this time to Tina, another angel who's crossed our path!!!

We spent some incredible moments, getting to know her, as well as her daughter Aubrey, another AMAZING young lady!!  And we had some fun times doing Karaoke!!  Can you believe it?  Me, singing Karaoke??!!  Yep!  Wasn't the best, but hey, I gave it a go, despite my incredible stage fright!!!  Fun times, though.

New Plymouth, New Zealand - La vue de la maison de Tina

We had an enjoyable and relaxing time at Tina's beachfront house, with a view of the ocean on one side and then Mount Taranaki on the other . . . Wow!!  If only you could've seen the paradise we experienced!!!  Thanks so much, for the hospitality, yummy food, and good times!!  Muchisimas gracias!!

But let me not forget to talk about our visit to New Plymouth.  I just gotta say that this part of our journey here in NZ was really enjoyable for me!  Again we had the chance of meeting another great couple, John and Brenda.  They were kind enough to open their home up to us, as well as make sure we had an unforgettable visit here.  Had a nice tour of the city, climbed Mount Paritutu, had a nice walk along the waterfront near their home, and also saw the one and only Wind Wand!  Good times!

The highlight of our stay with them, in addition to getting better acquainted, of course, would be my being able to witness them make their own spirits!!  I had never met anyone who actually brewed their own alcohol before .

New Plymouth, New Zealand - View of Mt. Taranaki (Mt. Egmont) from Tina's
. . a first for me!  They even make their own Bacardi and beer!!  They can make anything!!  Now, how neat is that?!!  I was highly impressed by it all!!  And, of course, we made sure to try our their home-brewed specialties!!

And while we had a nice chat over some drinks, Arnaud made sure to talk his way into getting a ride in a legendary racing vehicle.  Well, it didn't take much, apparently!!  All he needed to do was ask, and off they went!!

Now, I'm no specialist when it comes to vehicles, but in any case, Arnaud was thrilled to be able to ride in John's cherished car.  Good for him!

So a BIG thanks again to everyone who contributed in making our stay in the Taranaki region, so great!!!

New Plymouth, New Zealand - Karaoke night!!

New Plymouth, New Zealand - Aubrey, Tina, Juanny & Arnaud

New Plymouth, New Zealand - Imágenes de New Plymouth

New Plymouth, New Zealand - Juanny & Wind Wand

New Plymouth, New Zealand - Wind Wand

New Plymouth, New Zealand - Vue de Mt.
