Medan, Indonesia
What a LONG journey it was to finally reach Medan!! Thank goodness hitchhiking works wonderfully in this country, though!!
I didn't think we'd ever reach this place, but after 3 days of non-stop travelling, we finally did it!! It's just too bad, we made the unfortunate decision of taking a visa for only 7 days. How could we have known that it would take this long to get anywhere!!
Still, despite the long journey, we were able to see some awesome landscapes and meet more beautiful people along the way.
So far, Indonesia seems to be an alright place . . . if only we could get out of the vehicles!! Luckily, our chosen method of tranportation allowed us to actually meet actual Indonesians, and that's exactly what we were hoping and expecting from this journey.
It's a very poor country, but the folks are incredibly generous and kind . . . and are willing to stop and give us a lift, even if they can't talk to us!!!
Yep, communication is a constant struggle, but again, luckily we can get by with some Malay-Indonesian now!!
The cuisine, so far, resembles the food in Malaysia. Quite spicy, but with just the right amount of rice and water, very tasty!! And as long as we don't get ripped off for being foreigners, we're happy!!
I've gotten mistaken for Indonesian, but unfortunately to communicate, I have to open my mouth and speak!! Can't just look pretty and smile!! Darn!! That's where they caught on that I wasn't like them!! :( Let's just hope they won't be dishonest!!!

Vous pouvez meme pas imaginer comment cela a ete dur d arriver jusqu a Medan, 3 jours de stop non-stop, on avait pas le temps de souffler vu que l on avait pris le visa d une semaine, on voulait a tout prix arriver jusqu a Banda Aceh pour en profite un minimum ou un maximum, cela depend de votre mentalite!!
Je dois quand meme souligner que c est en Indonesie (pour l instant) ou le stop a marche le mieux!!! Apres 11 mois de voyage, il y avait en numero 1: Equateur, 2:Uruguay, 3:Nouvelle Zelande et bien le classement est different dorenavant.
