La Ceiba, Honduras
October 25, 2007
The original plan was to get off the bus in Tela and check out the beaches there, but it just wasn´t meant to be maybe. So we paid our fares to Tela, and were expecting to be on the bus for only an hour and a half. But come 2 hours, then 2 hours and a half, I started to worry. So I asked someone where we were, and to my surprise, the person told me that we would be arriving in La Ceiba shortly!! We had missed our stop!! Well actually, the bus people forgot to let us out!! It all worked out for the best because we would´ve had to come this way to continue onward to the Bay Islands anyway. Funny thing was, the bus people had tried to rip us off originally, but we´re the ones who ended up riding for less . . . half price!! Perfect!
Now in La Ceiba, we needed to get on the ball and find accomodation before nightfall. And once again, we got lucky because a very nice Honduran couple was willing to put us up for the evening; they even took us out to see the town a bit. La Ceiba is your typical beach town, cute and overflowing with tourists. At the moment though, due to all the rain, all we got to see really were all the flooded streets. The rain just hasn´t let up, one bit since we´ve gotten to Honduras. Bummer for us!
