So, after Jeravna we stopped by Gradets again and visited some friends of my grandmothers for about an hour, and by 11 pm we reached the village of Stralja...which is more like a small city now.
After getting lost...mind you....we come from Miami, a gigantic, confusing, really BIG city....my grandmother was finally able to figure out where her brothers house was and we set out to wake them up! :-)
After my grandmother basically broke into the yard, she went onto knocking on doors and windows of her brothers house until the lights turned on and two very sleepy people came out. Tears, hugs, and laughs later, they then set out to wake up the rest of the family and have them come to the house right away. My uncle (the POLICEMAN :-) and his family joined us and they set the table on the balcony for a late dinner and achohol.
After everyone arrived, and the table was set....we sat for about 2 hours talking and laughing and just having a good old time. Trading stories and catching up. My grandmother gave everyone their gifts that she bought int he US a couple of months ago. My grandfather (her brother...dont know how to call him exactly...great uncle?) he received a really neat flashlight for when he goes to check on the livestock in the night.
Eventually my uncle Mitko and his family left, and everyone headed to bed, My mom and I stayed up and talked until about 5 am about various things about life, the univers, and "the way the world turns" :-) A talk we havent had in years as Im never at home long enough to even start the conversation, and we are never alone. There were tears, and laughter, and sorry's and love yous and etc etc etc.....and emotional loving talk between mother and daughter...a truly amazing moment for the both of us.
From there we both went to bed with red noses.
