Sunny day at Waitemata Harbour
It is true that there are many great hikes in New Zealand but you must be an expert map reader in order to be successful in you venture. My attempt to hike the 16km Coast to Coast trek ended right where I began. I am still in awe over the fact that I became so disoriented and have no clue how I could have gotten so lost. It has been a difficult transition as far as directions because I keep on flipping around my North and South.  My internal map is all out of whack. I guess it was for the best because the weather was cloudy/rainy and when I was done I was completely frustrated. I spent the day walking yet again along Queen Street which was another disappointing endeavor. I felt like I was surrounded by a sea of plastic. Don't get me wrong I enjoy shopping but not to the extent of many so I am looking forward to being away from the city. It is like one giant party here. I thought I would go out late at night and see the sites which most might think is dangerous but with every other person being drunk I felt like I had the upper hand. It made me really sad to see people in that condition. Well today is another story. With sunny skies I will attempt a ferry ride to one of the several islands less than half an hour away.
