I woke up early. First stop: Highland Park whisky distillery in Kirkwall. People who drink single malt know know what I'm writing about. Highland Park is one of the best whiskys in the world! I was there before the first guidet tour. I wasn't surprised when it turned out, that I was the only guest there :) The guide showed me all buildings and process of making single malt scotch. God! She thought from my accent that I'm Scottish! Later on I took the bus to the airport. The small 8-seat airplane took me first to Westray Island and than started again to land after 1 and half minute, again: 1 min 30 seconds (!) on another, smaller Papa Westray island. It's the shortest sheduled flight in the world! Just me and one older lady on board! I felt like taking taxi! That was also extremaly cheap: about 12 GBP for 4 flights! The island is one of my favorite places I've been to.
Knap of Howar
In the only hostel just 3 more travellers. This day I planned to see the biggest treasure - Knap of Howar - the oldest standing house in norhern Europe. Built before Egipt pytamides! I've found it near the beach, with tiny fence. Nobody there! I could walk around the rooms and see how people lived 4000 years ago! Later on I took the walk along the coast. It took me to small bird obserwatory (great binoculars provided for tourists for free). It was North Hill nature reserve. I came back to the hostel though two beautiful empty sandy beaches. Later taht day I made a walk along southern shore of the Islands. Quite impressive kliffs, ocean, lots of birds, sheep, wildness and fog! Such different than my Warsaw!
