Hippo

Walking down the streets of Seoul I occasionally hear people refer to me as, "Hippo." It was confusing me... were they calling me fat? Ugly? Wrinkled and gray? Who knows. While walking with Sonya the other day another person came up to me and said, "Hippo! Hippo!" I just smiled awkwardly and kept walking. Sonya said, "You should say, 'thank you', Sarah!" I just looked at her ... guess what? Hippo means "pretty" in Korean. It's pronounced more like "yippo", but it's so close I'd been mistaking this compliment for an insult. Good confidence booster!! :)
