Sleepwalking in Stockholm

Funky hallway at Motel L. Wouldn't want to walk down this if I was hammered.
I've been reading way too many reviews of Norwegian Air's new Dreamliner flights between L.A. and Scandinavia, and most of them were pretty bad - tales of planes being switched out with dirty, old charter planes with surly crews, no food available on the flights, and sitting on the tarmac for hours with no food or water, and the bathrooms closed. Needless to say, we were bracing for the worst, and honestly, it was one of the best economy flights I've ever been on.

We did get the Dreamliner (thank God), and it's all new and shiny, with the fancy ambient lighting, a wealth of entertainment choices at each seat, the crew was perfectly friendly and helpful, and we left on time. And the middle seat was empty. Yay! I will say that the unorthodox meal service was odd. We pre-ordered our meals, and the pre-orders receive their meals first, and the "snack bar" opens about 2 hours into the flight - I would have been starving in that case.

They have fancy push-button window-shades, and you can plug your devices in to the seat back to charge them.

We went direct from L.A. to Stockholm, took the Arlanda Express train to Central Station and grabbed a taxi from there. It was about $100US for 2 of us to get to Motel L, which is modern, Scandinavian and funky. Ikea on steroids, with some interesting details, and lots of color. Neither of us got more than a few hours of sleep over the last few days, so we just went for a long walk, up through the Sodermalm to get some "fika" which is coffee and cake, and a little lunch. As the sun went low in the sky, we wandered into a charming historic theatre, a lovely beer garden overlooking the city, a marathon, a bakery to pick up pastries, and a communist rally. Now if we could only stay awake to enjoy more of it. We tried to make it to 9pm, but ZZZZzzzzzzzzz.....
