Douglas the dog in the creek diving for rocks
I was able to sleep in this morning after waking up during the night. We had a nice breakfast of croissants, bread, fruits etc. Douglas the dog managed to steal the rest of the bread loaf while we weren't watching, and there was no way to get it back from him. He had bitten Christine once before in a similar situation so she was not going to risk it again. We told her we had trained our dogs to give what they have in their mouth, and they are really good about it.

Even then, we took the dog for a long walk through the forest. Christine said te dog enjoyed diving for rocks in the creek. I did not know what that meant. But when we got to the creek, she picked up some rocks, big rocks like 2 or 3 lbs, and threw them into the water, the dog went in, only about knee deep in water, and put his head underwater.

He came out with the rock in his mouth! we did that over and over. He did not always retrieve the same rock, but often he did. It was really pretty strange, I had never heard of such a thing before!

We watched a slideshow of photos from Christine's trip to Africa, Namibia in particular, real nice places to see the sand dune, animals including zebras, giraffes, elephants, springbucks, oryx with beautiful markings, even cheetahs and leopards. It seemed she had a good itenirary.

Later we went to old town Schaffhausen, and walked around. The old town felt pretty much like many other old towns in Europe. Which is to say it has more interesting streets and buildings, plazas and fountains than I expected, it was quite a nice place to walk around. Then we went back to the house and took a nap.

For dinner we went to the Theatre restaurant. Dinner was nice, but the upstairs room we were in had just us and another table with guests. Outside the restaurant was a very large square, which had no feature at all, and thus nothing for people to linger for. Kevin's dad had a proposal of making it into a more attractive place with fountains etc, but the town did not adopt it or apparant any other plan, so that was kind of unfortunate.
