Rio - Copacabana Stones' Concert 18 Feb
I flew into Sao Paulo and took a snappy overnight bus to Rio... no time to waste to get to the free Rolling Stones' concert on the 18th.
I met up with Han (mate from Sydney) and we got a place in a dodgy hostel in the thick of the action at Copacabana. we headed down to the beach at dusk with about 1.4 million other punters and found a spot about 500m from the stage. It wasn't too crowded at this point though the crowd stretched back about 2 km more behind us. We had our own private barman selling Skol (brand of cerveja/beer) from an eski behind us. the crowd was slightly subdued until "satisfaction" came on which the Brazilians knew the words to.
Came out unscathed, despite numerous pick-pocket attempts. We took the advice of the girls at the hostel and took nothing with us. Rob and Lou from the hostel weren't so lucky and a fight broke out when a local tried to grab their camera... Rob fought them off (with little help of some other Brazilian guys they'd made friends with).
