From Feb to Sep 06 I visited every country except Paraguay and the Guianas (no offence to Paraguayans!). To see an overview, click on the photo to the left then "View Trip Summary". Highlights were Patagonia (Arg, Chile), Cordillera Blanca (Peru) and kitesurfing in Is. Margerita, Venezuela!

20-21 July: Panama hat Mission to Monticristi

Headed to Monticristi with Tim to shop for a famous monticristi (or "Panam") hat. After reading in the lonely planet that you can pick up a super-fino (super fine tightly woven straw hat that takes about a month to make) for US$100 we were ready to pick up a bargain. In reality, the lowest price offered for superfinos was about US$350... finos were going for abour $150 but after seeing a super-fino, there's no way you can settle for a ordinary fino! Was all a bit much for something that i'd probably only wear a the races so ended up giving it a miss.
