After disembarking th Navimag at Puerto Montt, Sarah, Andrew, Nick and I jumpd on th first bus accross the border to Bariloche, Argentina. Great town... a bit touristy in set up but it's got something for everyone. The architecture makes you feel like you're in a German ski village.
The weather on th 19th proved why most people come to the Lakes District in Summer (upside was it gave me time to write this journal). 20th was better so I hired a mountain bike and rode up Cerro Otto for some splendid views of Bariloche, Lago Nahuel Huapi, Lago Gutierrez and surrounding mountains. The view from mirador Piedra de Habsburgo was choice.
AM on the 21st I set out with another English Nick to refugio Frey, about 3 hour walk from Villa Catedral ski centre car park.
I headed out to Hotel Llao Llao next day to check out the other end of Lago Nahul Huapi. Also got a glimpse of how the upper end of the travelling population live before I was informd that I had to leave the hotel grounds (I geuss I looked a bit scruffy).
