14 - 18 April: Navimag Cruise (Patagonia Fiords)
I arrived in Puerto Natales to board The Navimag ferry "Puerto Eden" and met some of the crew from Torres. Sarah and Andrew from Melb were having a few warm up beers waiting for the ferry and then Nick (Pom) trundled in to join us.
The cruise took us through the fiords of Patagonia, Chile on a ship that has been partially converted to carry passengers. The more numerous passengers were the cows and sheep that had a much less comfortable cruise on the cargo deck.
I'm not too sure where all the time went but we spent a lot of time eating and hanging out on the bridge getting under the feet of the watch officers.
The scenery was impressive but not spectacular and was hidden by cloud a lot of the time. We disembarked on the second morning at Puerto Eden, a town only accessible by ship and supplied by Navimag.
The town was asleep because it was easter sunday and only a few entrepreneurs showed up to sell their wares.
Later that afternoon we hit the ocean passage section and there weren't many people sharing the dinner table that night. I proved once and for all which of the armed services is tougher when Nick (ex British Army) turned green and ran from the dinner table after half consuming a pisco sour.
The one big night of the trip was the final night "bingo and disco night". And yes, it was just about as daggy as it sounds... but kinda fun.
