Bojnice & Prievidza day 1
Although my bus arrived in Prievidza, this evening was primarily spent in Bojnice, and the pension that I stayed in was also in Bojnice.
Andrea and her friend Jana met me at the bus station, and we took a cab directly to the pension I'd be staying at, so I was able to shower & change before checking out Zamek Bojnice. Zamek Bojnice (Bojnice Castle ... sometimes called a chateau) is quite an enchanting edifice. I had seen pictures of it and was glad to see it in person.
We walked from my pension up to an italian restaurant (mainly pizza) which sat just near the castle. Not a bad view while eating. We walked up as close as we could get that evening (it is surrounded by a moat after all) and then went "bowling" ... though the alley wasn't quite what I was expecting. ;-)
By the way, if you haven't studied any Slavic languages, "Bojnice" is probably not pronounced like how it looks to you. The "J" is like an English "Y" and "nice" pretty much rhymes with "pizza" ... so: "boy - neetsa"
