Chengdu
We arrived at Mix hostel around lunch time, although the hostel is big it has a relaxed atmosphere. After unpacking we went to the station to get our train tickets to Lhasa, this was easier than expected.
Our first full day was spent relaxing, then on Friday we got a minibus to Leshan to see the worlds biggest Buddha. To get a better view we took a speedboat onto the river before climbing down the cliff top staircase next to the Buddha.
The following day we met up with Matt and Becky and went to Tianfu square, where we flew our kite and had Sichuanese hotpot for lunch before relaxing at a teahouse in Peoples park. Later that afternoon we all went for a traditional Chinese massage.
On Monday morning we had an early start to visit the Panda breeding centre at feeding time as this is when the pandas are most active. We enjoyed watching the young pandas play fighting and climbing trees. After lunch we went for a relaxing stroll around Wenshu temple.
The following day was spent relaxing and that evening we went to the Sichuan opera. We really enjoyed the show and our favourite performances included acrobatics, fire breathing and the amazingly fast changing faces.
