Having been to Tokyo several times, I decided that it was time to check out some of the other cities. Osaka will remind a lot of people of another Tokyo, but it definitely had it's own personality. Kyoto was a wonderful city and a nice mix of tradition and new. And Nara was slow-paced and laid-back.

Osaka

Osaka looks a lot like Tokyo in that it's a huge bustling city with all the usual neon and glitter. However, there's a slightly different pace to the people and the food. Still, tons to see in and around the city, and it's a good base to visit Kyoto, Nara, and Kobe (although unfortunately I didn't have enough time to see Kobe). The aquarium was pretty cool too.
