So after my dramatic entrance into the country and feeling a little violated I was absolutely stoked to find that the city is freakin awesome! Everything, from the beautiful people, to the surrounding mountains even the buildings have this post colonial feel and are actually built with proper bricks! This you may think is a weird comment but travel through Sth American and some of the building sites you see are just utterly scary and the materials used to build them even more worrying, so seeing a well built city with a distinctive charm was a good change! Arriving at the hostel was told there was a bed available in 10mins, but about 4hrs later i found myself getting woken up from the couch to actually climb into it, haha must be the colombian way! During that time meet some cool irishmen and Aussie gal and planned to go out later on!
After a fitful sleep i arose in time to see the gorgeous sunset, hadnt see one in ages (Lima sucks for that type of stuff) and for a split second it seemed the entire city went quite! Then as soon as it had disappeared the whole place came to live, ppl bustling around, awesome colombian reggae music rockin out from hidden bars up cobled side streets and the smell and delightful food, mmm FOOD!!! I was starving so with me and the new mates we ventured out to a popular strip where there are many resturants, cafes and bars! So many polces we have been to are lively and full of energy but here it just seemed different not one person was frowning all had smiles, people wore colourful clothing, some danced in the streets others played instruments (not busking) where ever i looked something was happening! The food was awesome and people the Colombians make the best juices in the WORLD!!! After dinner it was home for a night in front of the DVDs, i was keen as to head out but thought id wait until the boys arrived the following day this proved to be a good decision!
Awaking to one of the Irish boys moaning about breakfast I was up and adam´s in no time! Again the Colombian juices were divine and hit the spot then it was off for a day of sightseeing with some new found friends.
On returning to the hostel I stumbled across some familiar faces THE BOYS had arrived and the only thing on their minds was party party! But to party we needed to uphold our travelling tradition which is to get dressed up in stupid op shop clothes, so it was off for another walk in search of some threads, my legs ache!!!
