many times i am faced with golden opportunities, to be bold and jump on a plane and seek out adventure. thanks to michael phoenix, four of us flew down to cancun, mexico from june 12-15. the flight plan went as follows: phoenix to seattle to los angeles to cancun. all that flying for a virtually free ride. thank you michael! our room and board was all inclusive, for $65 per person per night, at the oasis cancun resort. according to our fellow hotel guests, were were saving about $150 per day!

the mayan riviera, once one has ventured outside the bustle of tourist and teen ridden cancun, is a lush and exotic haven for the sunworshipper and novice archeologist/spelunker/diver/snorkeler.

after a humid first night in cancun, jason and i were up at 0600, enjoying an early break from our fast, and wandering around the property and beach while the rest of the guests were still recovering from the previous day's drinking. we booked a trip to isla mujeres, to the water park "garaffon," for a snorkelig adventure. amazing that for $55 per person, we were on a boat with open bar, headed out into the caribbean blue, 20 minutes away from an island called the isle of women.
