Two Unforgettable Trips To Malacca
November 25, 2006
This city has history of occupation from original Malay settlers to Chinese invaders to Portuguese to Dutch then British. Rightfully so, the city is a tapestry of culture displayed on the churches, ruins and food. The city is too colorful and if you don't believe me, check out the flamboyant tricycles waiting for tourists near the Christ Church (the pink church).
Anyway, the main highlight for this city is the Pink Church called Christ Church. This church has become the icon of the city. Other must see are the galleon turned into a museum, the Fort A Formosa, and the old churches where St Francis visited. Also food here is good, this city is the origin of Peranakan food, which is basically Chinese-Malay food with Portuguese influence.
I visited this city twice with two different groups. Both visits are unforgettable.
