I've been wanting to go to Wroc艂aw since I saw my friend Jen's pictures of her trip here nearly two years ago. The impressive town square, old town and Cathedral Island (called Ostr贸w Tumski - the oldest part of the city) are places I really wanted to see - and the combination of beautiful architecture, waterways, bridges and green spaces is something I new I would enjoy.
I wasn't disappointed. Wroc艂aw is really a beautiful city. I got up early and left Warsaw around 8.30 - the drive plus a stop for gas and a stop for lunch all ended up taking about 6 hours - you can definitely do it faster if you want to, but I like to take it easy and check things out along the way.
Once we finally reached Wroc艂aw the first thing was to find a hotel - this turned out to be easy.
After getting the room, we headed out to see some of the sights. The old town is really impressive here - the architecture is beautiful, the buildings are brightly painted and the whole area is fantastic. I took a ton of pictures. I was amused to see a really nice detail - little gnomes, here and there. See my pictures!
After a few hours wandering, it started to rain. I bought an umbrella and after a little longer we decided to go and have dinner, which we did, in a sushi bar. It was a good, light dinner... After so much driving and walking I was pretty tired, so I headed back to the hotel and went to sleep.
