Wandering around Sopot

Sopot is a great place to spend a little time wandering around. There are plenty of cafés, restaurants and shops, plus a nice beach and pretty surroundings to walk through. It looks like a fantastic place to spend a weekend during the summer. We were lucky to coincide with a sort of street fair and there were lots of acts including the stilt walkers that I have included a picture of.
April wasn't the best time of the year for a day in Sopot, but we were lucky - it was cold but sunny - there were even people playing volleyball on the beach - felt like Southern California! I'd say that four hours or so is plenty of time to get the feel of this town and wander through its streets. There's a fantastic looking hotel right on the beach that looks very inviting for another visit sometime! After an afternoon in Sopot, we headed back to Warsaw by train - about a 5 hour journey. The train ride home wasn't a good one, I looked over at my friend Bob and he was slowly changing color - from normal, to pale to green and was sick the entire way home. Lucky the train wasn't too crowded. By the time we made it back to Warsaw and found our way home we were all pretty exhausted - except for Jen! who has a couple more days off from work and decided to head for Wrocław and sleep on the train! I would have enjoyed going with her, but I'll have to visit Wrocław another time.
