Nałęchów
This is a spa town, with mineral springs. A well known brand of Polish mineral water comes from here. There are numerous old stately mansions with beautiful architecture and a spa where you can swim and soak in the water and also take a mud baths. I'd never done that before, so this is my chance! It was an interesting experience - floating in the thick hot mud... Of course I couldn't lay still, moved around too much and ended up getting mud in my eye! That smarts!! Afterwards I was truly ready for a nap!
It took a little time to find our guest house... Not because it was particularly difficult to find, but rather because it just didn't look like a guest house and we drove by it a couple times before realizing that it was our destination.
Once we parked and got out of the car we were greeted by a nice elderly woman who reminded me of my grandma about 20 years ago:-( .... She showed us inside and to our rooms. This was my first time at a place like this. It felt like staying with someone's family. As I wrote this we were sitting in one of the rooms, Sergio, El Pibe, Erica, la chapita and I... drinking mate again. This Argentinian mate thing really grows on me. At this point our friend Hiroshi finally managed to show up and we got started preparing our "asado" for dinner. We had bought some pork ribs, some really good beef and a bunch of different polish sausages. To go with that we had some salads, bread and plenty of things to drink - mostly beer!
The spa is located in a the middle of the park. It offers a number of services and treatments like different types of massage, sauna, turkish baths, etc. When you check in, you are given a towel and a key for a little locker to keep your clothes in. Then it's off to get changed and into the water. This is a fun and relaxing way to spend a couple hours. We went into their large hot pool, jacuzzi and the steam room and then headed for the hot mud bath. Everything was really clean and well-kept and the staff on duty was very friendly. Some also speak English.
If you've been doing a lot of walking, it's a great way to relieve sore muscles. You can only stay in the hot mud, a kind of white clay, for about 20 minutes or it will dry your skin too much, but it's amazingly relaxing. You can't hardly sink into it, and I nearly fell asleep floating there. Just be careful not to get the mud into your eyes, like I did (it's extremely uncomfortable!)
I recommend this experience which cost about 14 Euros. It was a fun, relaxing way to spend a couple hours!
