Beekman Park
May 24, 2006
One of the great things about Ohio State is the huge number of facilities available for recreation. Some require student status or memberships, but others are free. One such is Fred Beekman Park at the corner of Lane Ave and Kenny Rd. The park includes at least 5 baseball diamonds, 2 football/soccer/ultimate frisbee/rugby pitches, 4 sand volleyball courts, 2 basketball courts and a mile-long track that runs around the whole thing for walking, running and rollerblading. Just across the street, there's even a cricket field! This is on OSU's West Campus, there is plenty of parking, especially on weekends. Sometimes events are organized (kids' little league, intramurals, etc) but many people also come here to play pickup sports. There are stadium lights throughout the park, which are often left on (especially by the sand volleyball courts) until midnight or later. Beekman Park is a great place to hang out in the summer, get some exercise, or just relax and enjoy the weather!
