24 hour street

Curitiba was an add in late on once we found out the weather in Parati was going to be rain, rain and more rain so we looked for somewhere with sun and found Curitiba - also home to the start of the worlds most spectacular train journey!

Curitiba is a lovely town with a beautiful historic center, a 24 hour street (although we ended up going in normal office hours!), a market with all kinds of things and home to HUGE buses with 3 sections (Claire learnt about them in Geography).

On the wedsnesday we got up early and headed off to the train station for a spectacular trip and they didn't disappoint. We saw amazing views over forests, gorges, rivers etc When we arrived in the little village of Morretes we had a few hours to wander around before we had to get the train back. Morretes is beautiful and the sun shining made it even better! We stopped for lunch and Claire ordered the traditional meal of the area - Borredo. We've never seen so much food for one person - it came with garlic and eggplant sauce, fish muffins, seafood thing, manoic and mayonnaise and then the beef stew with rice and flour that had to be mixed into it! It tasted really strange and too salty but was filling!
